jdkchat, a simple multi-user chat daemon for Linux. Multiple users can telnet to it and talk. It even works with buggy Windows telnet.exe programs.
Version 1.5 of jdkchat has at least one buffer overflow security vulnerability! Please see http://packetstormsecurity.org/files/view/75671/jdkchat-overflow.txt for details!
Version 1.2 now allows local echo control of your telnet sessions.
Version 1.4 runs under win32.
Version 1.5 is graciously improved by Aditya Godbole. Aditya writes:
I loved the way jdkchat has been written. It was exactly what I was looking for. Small, compact, efficient, and works with any darn telnet client. I have made a few changes to the code to incorporate private messages (from one user to another only).
I also changed the start of the command from '%' to '/' as it is in most IRC clients. (I also find it easier to type, but thats a personal whim). Hopefully this modification would make it to V1.5 ? :-)
